Da Best Homemade BBQ Sauce!

Everyone should have a few keys sauces in their arsenal - a few homemade pasta sauces, a nice lemon or marsala sauce for proteins ... and, of course, a kick-ass barbecue sauce. This is my go-to, and it's always a hit. It's all I want in a BBQ sauce - mustardy, some heat, some sweetness, vinegary ... YUM. And you can use it with anything.

This week I whipped up a batch, and simmered some little meatballs (recipe found in my A Perfect 10 Cookbook), and served with a simple chop salad with BBQ sauce mixed in with the vinagrette. So good.

You could also take these little meatballs doused in the sauce, and throw them in a little hoagie and have an awesome meatball sandwich. Wowza! So here's Da Best Homemade BBQ Sauce. Believe me, you'll thank me later!

Mix the following in a saucepan, simmer on low-medium for about 15 minutes, until thickened. Serve with anything. For meatballs, I just drop the prepared meatballs right into the sauce, and let simmer for a few minutes.

1 cup yellow mustard

1/4 cup Dijon mustard

2 1/2 teaspoons hot sauce

1/4 t. cayenne pepper

3 tablespoons butter

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon each salt and pepper

1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Enjoy!!
